Dr. Kai Chen is currently a PhD student enrolled in the School of Biomedical Science, at the University of Western Australia (UWA). He obtained both his bachelor’s degree (Clinical Medicine) and master’s degree (Orthopaedics Surgery) at Wenzhou Medical University (WMU), China (2007-2015). After completing his studies at WMU, he worked as an orthopedic surgeon at the Department of Orthopaedics, the 1st Affiliated Hospital of WMU. In 2016, he was sponsored by Australian Government Research Training Programe (RTP) to pursue his PhD degree in Perth, Australia.
His current research activities are focused on bone metabolism (molecular cross-talks of osteoclast, osteoblast, as well as angiogenesis in the bone marrow microenvironment) and basic research about biomaterials in bone tissue engineering. So far, he has been involved in 25 publications and first-authored 7 of them. His research received “the best paper” award in 2017 Australia-China Conference on Science, Technology and Innovation, Perth, Australia. Also, he has been invited for oral presentation Falling Walls Lab Australia held by Australian Academy of Science.
