Ahmed Al Saedi
The University of Melbourne, VICTORIA, Australia
- This delegate is presenting an abstract at this event.
Dr Al Saedi is a Senior Research Fellow at Melbourne Medical School and an Honorary Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School, specialising in musculoskeletal diseases, ageing, and stem cell biology. He completed a Master of Science in Medicine (Infectious Diseases and Immunology) and a Master of Philosophy in Medicine at the University of Sydney, before undertaking his PhD at the Australian Institute for Musculoskeletal Science (AIMSS) in Melbourne. His doctoral research focused on the role of circulating osteoprogenitor (COP) cells and Lamin A in musculoskeletal biology and function. In recognition of this work, he received several prestigious awards, including the AgNovos Young Investigator Award at the WCO-IOF-ESCEO Congress and funding from the Endocrine Fellows Forum on Metabolic Bone Diseases (ASBMR), and was invited to deliver oral and poster presentations at leading international conferences such as ASBMR, EFF, and IOF. Currently, Dr Al Saedi’s research investigates how cellular senescence influences mesenchymal stem cell differentiation, shifting from osteogenic to adipogenic pathways, and how this contributes to bone fragility through bone lipotoxicity. He is also actively involved in supervising and supporting multiple research projects aimed at advancing understanding of musculoskeletal diseases, particularly osteoporosis and sarcopenia, with a focus on fat infiltration in bone and muscle tissues.
